The purpose of workers' compensation is to indemnify the participant against all sums for which the participant shall be liable due to personal injury arising out of and in the course of employment by the employees in the participant’s immediate service. The coverage applies to personal injury, disease or death by an accident arising out of during the course of employment and in addition provides cover for all costs and expenses incurred with the written consent of the company.

Employers under the Workmen's Compensation Act are required to fully insure all employees defined in the Act as "workmen" for their liability to pay compensation to employees who are injured in the course of employment.

Employees who require compulsory Workmen's Compensation cover are:

• Manual/Non-manual workers/employees whose minimum earnings are up to Rs. 6,000/- per month.
